We welcome you to attend the 2007 APAMSA NY/NJ regional conference. This year’s theme is "Technology in Medicine." The conference will feature: - keynote speaker on advances in microsurgery - human simulator demonstration - exciting and interactive workshops - opportunities to network with other NY/NJ medical students - catered dinner buffet - after-party with fellow APAMSA members in New York City This is a great opportunity to network with APA physicians and medical students from our region while learning more about the issues that affect APA healthcare and healthcare professionals. Chun, M.D. Director of Microsurgery Associate Professor, Surgery/Plastic Surgery Mount Sinai School of Medicine Dr. Jin Chun is Director of Microsurgery at Mount Sinai School of Medicine. He is a teaching clinician at Mount Sinai School of Medicine where he also has a busy clinical practice specializing in body contouring and breast reconstruction. He has published articles in peer reviewed journals in addition to contributing chapters in books that highlight various reconstructions in plastic surgery. Dr. Chun has made technical innovations in lower extremity reconstruction and oncological reconstructions and has given international, national and local presentations on these techniques. Johnny Kao, M.D. Director of the Head and Neck Radiation Oncology Service Assistant Professor, Radiation Oncology Former APAMSA Chapter President Mount Sinai School of Medicine Dr. Kao is Director of the Head and Neck Radiation Oncology Service. Dr. Kao's primary clinical interests are developing better treatment approaches for patients with advanced but curable cancers. Historically patients with stage III-IV head and neck cancer have long-term survival rates of approximately 30 percent. With recent advances in radiation technology, imaging, and drug therapy, Dr. Kao uses state-of-the-art techniques to offer more aggressive and much more effective treatment regimens. Yasuharu Okuda, M.D. Director of Simulation Education Assistant Professor, Emergency Medicine Mount Sinai School of Medicine Dr. Yasuharu Okuda is the site director for the Emergency Medicine Residency at The Mount Sinai Hospital. His academic interests include the use of simulators in medical education and the facilitation of interdisciplinary communication and team building.
